So I've been pretty busy, I am designing some work for an online app it's up and running, American Mobsters, you should check it out it's like Mafia Wars. I'm also working on some projects but I don't have any oks to post yet. I've got to the point where I can't take on any more work. When I finish these other projects, I'll probably take a hiatus from gns and comics to work on my own stories, but keep knocking out the games, so more to come soon.

Here's a cover idea for Bloodhound #2. Bloodhound is almost done, look for it soon whether in comic book or GN format we don't know yet. I enjoyed this cover, the anatomy is off all over to my eye, but hell it's art and it looks ok. I have been very very busy, sorry about the posts. there are several new projects that are under wraps, but when they're done you'll see more. Might actually make some cons this year, maybe...site will be revamped soon again, needs something jenesaisquoi but something different...thanks for staying true, more to come, much much more...

Here's an android character I did for somebody. I kinda liked it. I actually kept the color tones from the scan and I gave a warmer feel when tweaking the balances, there's lots of area for improvement but the overall feel was good, this is pencil and ink with toning and balancing in PS. Anywho so lots of shifting, but more stuff coming...gotta love this freelance artist gig thing stuff going on...yup

So I've had a lot of interest on this one, currently I am knee deep in another project, but when I have some elusive free time, this might be given the green light, we'll see another project has loomed it head and it looks pretty good, but we'll see we'll see, anyway this is the full pic you see plastered around, I love drawing sea monsters...

Got a lot going on, but who doesn't, I now it's been awhile so here's the original pencils for a piece I did a bit back for a novel cover. It's one of my favorites not as smooth as later work but the feeling is there..so I was just peeking at the traffic here and it amazes me how global the world's become just this last week I've had hits from everywhere, I even learned about a new country, Tajikistan, got a bunch of hits from there. have a look:
US, Canada, Israel, UK, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil, Morocco, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, South Korea, Honk Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Tajikistan, Egypt, China, Japan, Greece, etc. I should find a way to cut and paste em over anyhow pretty cool I must say.

This is a splash page from the second issue of Bloodhound Law, which is in negotiations with some publishers so we'll see where it gets published soon, very exciting project, the second issue is almost complete. this picture will be available as a print soon as well.

The Hunted

Here's the Hunted short I squeezed it in between other projects, but it still came out ok, many times the hours of extra details I do go unnoticed by others, but I do most of my art by my standards not others, I like this it was enjoyable, I have to pick one femme fatale to stick with and run with her for a series or two, Isle or Hunted, Blind samurai or ruthless savage? tough choices. I keep getting requests and I'll get something out soon into your hands, Bloodhound is in negotiations and I'll get the shop up soon some prints, and the like, sketch books had some requests for those we'll see maybe for the comic con if I go, anyways stuff is on the way...

There will be tweaking as i get the time, as well as updates on Isle, Bloodhound, and other projects coming to light...well enough of the tech stuff i need to get back to drawing...

Westerns

This is from "The Hunted" a short piece I did awhile back. I might just finish it as a digital book, but the problem is I have to pay bills and sell stuff and things like that so it's hard to justify taking a month off to do something with no immediate pay. besides I got some great collaborations going to the presses soon, one is a Western as well, Bloodhound Law keep yer eye's peeled for that one. The Hunted more than anything is that I wanted to draw majestic landscapes, moody shadows, Western art, and raw savage beauty.

Chronos Comics

There are a few regular independent companies I've been working with, all of whom are great and awesome and wonderful but this company deserves a plug, I've been working with Jason over at Chronos for a little under a year on getting their titles lined up for the company's launch, which I think will be at an up coming Convention. I know we'll both be at NYCC so far as the plans are looking. Anyway The cast of characters the stories and professionalism have been awesome, I can't stress professionalism and mutual respect enough in working with companies, sometimes I'm blown away at the lack of either of these qualities in some companies, no names, we all love each other, no but really there are some companies I will not even consider working with. Gotta have the respect, Which is something I have for Mr. Cutcher over at Chronos he's got a square business sense, a good team, and great stories...

Here's the cover for Bloodhound Law #1 the first issue is almost done just a page or so to go. This is a great story written by Jason Cutcher, more on it's release to come. Keep posted this is a good project. it looks like I might be going to the New York con so If any of you see me there say hi, um...not that any or most of you even know what I look like, oh well that will only make it all the more interesting, maybe I'll wear a striped shirt like Waldo...the colors for this are all digital painting except for the wood for the letters that's actual wood, well digital wood, ...hmm that doesn't sound quite right...

I have some more on the burners, probably too much at once...This cover is of Cain and well you'll just have to get the book when it's printed...I do way too much work late at night...a new site is about to go up, so keep yer eyes peeled!

Wonderland

Its 11:45pm and I'm waiting for the coffee to brew. I noticed that I have been neglecting my blog, and believe it or not I follow the stats on here very closely. I have noticed visitors from every country in the world, this week visits ranged from China, to Malaysia, Australia, Romania, Spain, Brazil, Israel, Russia, and of course Canada and the USA, and a bunch of others. i hope you guys like what you see, i really do. My own personal tastes of what i like change so often, I rarely like what I've done too long, and I don't have very many of my old pieces anymore. For awhile i thought I'd go into children's books, and i did some pieces for some people, above is my wonderland stuff, I sold out a few print runs of some cards i did about um...11yrs ago, that's this phase above from about a decade ago. Some of my friends still think this to be my best stuff. it actually was very detailed, and it took alot longer to finish than the pages I'm tearing through nowadays. I've gone through many phases, i was very much a mesh between Jim lee and Todd Mcfarlane when i was 15-16, then I went through a Geoff Darrow phase where everything was tediously detailed and all line art no shading, then a frank miller/sin city phase of noirish shadows, and Mignola's hellboy. I noticed a lot of changes in artists, some of Miller's earlier stuff was very different you can see the transition in the first sin city collection, I have earlier comics from Mike Mignola when he drew a wolverine/apocalypse piece, it was very different from Hellboy though both were very good. Alot of the changes depend on the artist's own desire for change. Some view it as maturing, but...I don't know in some instances they were better earlier on, one example is a favorite of mine. Jae Lee his current style is very beautiful and refined it developed from his Hellshock realism transition, but if you look at his earlier Namor/Youngblood work wow! there was immense and brutal feeling that his current refined style sort of lost along the way. Both are amazing, but very different.

His later work is amazing but there's something in that brutal raw art he started with that got channeled and filed away. Same is true with Travis Charest if you follow his run with wildcats over at homage/image back in the day, he started out very much like jim lee, then he transitioned into something cleaner but very nice, and then out came wildcats/x-men golden age, I remeber it to this day, I was both in supreme awe and in total and complete disgust.

as you can see quite the transition. well I've been posting long enough, time to get to work don't know what the hell my point was with all of the above but there it is I got to stop posting so late at night...

Kitchen table

So I still haven't set up me office yet. Instead I'm busting pages out on my kitchen table which is better than the floor, which is were I did some work before the table...that's a benefit of being an artist, so long as I have paper pencils, pens, and a computer and scanner I can work from anywhere, well scratch the scanner and I can scan it later somewhere...you can find me working lots of places, coffee houses, bus stops, beaches...we'll yea. So this is a piece of a short I did called "The Hunted" can't seem to focus on one project at a time, so what I think I'll do is when I'm done with some of the contracts I got going on I'll run up Isle and this one to see what you guys like the most, then I'll throw it over to kickstarter, and get it over to a publisher for interest, so while its funded for production it will also get lined up for printing and distribution. I'm gonna do something new with the production, after it gets lined up I'll trow a portion of the production out there...well it will be a surprise...you'll see, So stay tuned, it won't be up and going till the end of some of my current contracts, but I'll get the wheels rolling soon, and I'll get the Hunted preview up, man I need a better way of reading the comic online for you guys, I'll figure something out...oh and the new site, some shirts, and all that other stuff I don't have time to do because I'm an artist with no time to focus on my businessdamitalltohellandback...

Relocation

man this move has taken forever...and ever...and ever...still setting up my new office so I'll be getting back to everything in a few days or so. above is a cut from a werewolf project that didn't work out. But I liked this picture so I put it up here in the recent lines of various horror projects I've had. But much more work is on the way, stay tuned, and thanks for all the views I'll be getting back on track with the regular posts soon. Isle of madness is going through some script reworking and will be back on the table in a little while. ciao pela'os!

Drama and Drag Queens

So this is a piece of a page from a project: The Devil and the dearly Departed. It might get a new title, and yes if you might be wondering those lips are male, he's very Rocky Horror picturesque. The last pages of the first issue are being worked on at this moment, but I needed a break, and decided I should post something before I get delirious and start rambling on about who knows what, like I did in the last couple of posts. I do tend to ramble.

Here's a piece from a commission for the band PIG. Gotta do some edits still, but I liked this piece. Haven't done horror for awhile,oh wait actually I am drawing a sort of horror book right now the first issue should be done soon. You know that feeling where you're up real late, or till real early, and your in this foggy in between world. a dissipated world that is between days and the reality that the sun brings. Adrift in the sleeping minds of the world free from the constant humming of the irreverent thoughts the waking have. busy little bees, buzz, buzz, buzz. How we scurry about our days, all a buzz, all humming irrelevant tunes, in cadence to a barely audible beat. And how we beat ourselves to the tunes others play for our lives. busy little bees. i don't want to sleep, because if i do I will wake and tomorrow will erase the genius midnight thoughts bring.

Move

Sorry I've been gone for a bit. We have been moving for the last few weeks. It's a whole lot more work than I thought. The last time I relocated from one state to another I was single now we're a family of 4 and moving just isn't simple anymore. I am still working on several projects, some are coming to life soon, above is a recent panel from some pages done last week. I might be a booth or two at the Comic con we'll see I don't know if I can squeeze it in while finding a new home and moving furniture and working and sleeping somewhere in there...I've got a new online store thing in the works with some content to buy, I'm putting together a sketchbook, and will start plugging away on "Isle" as soon as thing settle down.

I'm not sure ow many of you know but showing old pictures unedited is much like showing people one's private parts, while I am rather confident in the latter i am less so with the former. But i have recently come into a reasonable desire to venture into the past... so here is an old not yet destroyed sample of older work done years ago, no references, no layers, no photoshop, just pencil and inks on some over sized paper. I did these late at night dreaming of some sort of salvation that would come from an one shot last ditch effort to reclaim one's dream. I never finished it. Went to hell for my efforts. One day I'll do an autoepiograpghy but until then this will be close enough. Failure, we all fail my friends, we all fall, we all suck, and for every dreamer there is a moment when it feels as if the whole world is laughing at you, you suck, you fail, you're never going to make it. And the truth is most people give up here, when they lose, they quit and give in, and return to the normal life that kills them slowly...the world doesn't need another banker, it doesn't need another teller, it doesn't need another programmer...It needs you It needs dreamers, so don't quit, you who are possessed, you who are disturbed, keep failing, keep falling, keep trying...then after everything maybe it will come...you don't see it yet ,...there are only two kinds of people...the possessed and the oppressed...new life can only come after the old life fails, dreams are only awoken in deep sleep, so for all you failures, for all you losers, for all you I told you so why didn't you listen to themers embrace your failure, wrap your arms tight around all the i told you so's and fail gloriously...then it will come...
